Week 11 - Reflection
Throughout this course, there has been ups and downs. From the beginning of this course I can already feel that this is going to be a course that is heavily based on writing. To be perfectly honest, I don't think I am good at writing. I think I have a lot of good ideas since I am such a creative person, however with too much ideas I just express all of it in the essay but often have a lot of grammatical errors and the quantity of ideas that makes me cannot focus and elaborate on the central idea. Throughout this course I think I have improved quite a bit. From essay one, my TA already noticed how I have good ideas but I just keep on repeating myself which it seems like the ideas are isolated and not linked to the other ideas. There are too much ideas in the essay which I cannot focus in to it. The same thing happened to essay two, I have a lot of great ideas but I only mentioned it briefly, I didn't go in-depth enough with my arguments which I am being repetitive and make my essay lack of order. However throughout this course, not only I have learn more about the writing technique from the tutorials. But it allows me to think and question the source. It allows me step back and reflect the definition of the knowledge that are presented to us. In the lecture these questions always pop up, ‘What is History’, ‘What is Ideology’, ‘What is Humanities’, ‘What is Art’, etc. These questions allow me to reflect and how are these things can reflect on our life and our perceptions. Such as how language affect the way how human construct knowledge? Although these questions are hard, but it really makes me critically think the knowledge I have perceived. Which I think this enables me to explore more knowledge claims and in a more in-depth level of understanding. Throughout the tutorial activities, I think I have benefited a lot from my TA, the tutorial focus on how to improve our writing technique which I found that so much effective since its a smaller class and we always have class discussions. Even though I am not the kind of person that voices out my opinion to the discussions, I have benefited a lot from hearing the views from my classmate. It allows me to gain more insight and add on to the ideas I have. The tutorial activities also included peer review which I think this is incredibly helpful for me. Since when I draft an outline, I am usually confused if I am on the right track or not. Through this peer review activity in the tutorial class, it allows me to receive feedback from my peers and also have discussion on the topic I am writing, which this method can enhance the scope of my essay and what I will need to improve in my essay.
