Response Questions to 'Reel Bad Arabs'

1. Aladdin is an animated film aimed primarily at children. Do you agree that we should take the images and representations of a film like this seriously? Why or why not?

No, since the film is only target to children and the film is categorize as a family movie drama that does not have the tension to create a violent tension or bias to the arabs.

2. Why do you think Hollywood inserts demeaning images of Arabs into films that have nothing to do with the Middle East?

Hollywood films does not necessarily have something to do with the Middle East, However, as mentioned in the film, Hollywood movies are usually advised by the Department of Defense in Pentagon. This might be a reason that Pentagon is using Hollywood movies as a tool to manipulate information to audience as a propaganda through this channel.

3. What images come to your mind when you think of Arab men, women and children? Are those images different after seen this film? Why or Why not

Before when I was watching movies that invovles Arabs, I did not notice how they are being target on and how they are always the bad guys in the movie. After watching the 'Reel Bad Arabs', I recall the movies I have watched, they tend to have the bias not only towards the Arabs but also North Koreans, Russians, etc. It makes me think on how the media controls and manipulate how we perceive towards the event happened in movies. Because they are always presented as bad guys in the movie, we would slowly create bias towards them.
